Injured Pigeons located at the terminal=Catalina Express

I was so distraught yesterday afternoon, when we arrived at the Catalina Express terminal at 6:45pm. I noticed several pigeon's laying on the ground, they looked as though they were resting. I sat on a bench and watched the pigeons for awhile. While he attempted to get up, I noticed that his feet were hurt and deforme. Looked as though his feet were wrapped up in fishing line. It fishing line was so tight on his feet that it was deforming them, therefore making it almost impossible to him to fly or move around.

As I decided to feed the injured bird, many other birds came over the feast as well. The birds got very close and in no time had about 10-15 surrounding me. I noticed about 5-8 birds that were itching (quite odd looking), but again looking more closely noticed again FISHING LINE was wrapping around their feet, making it hard for them to walk.

HAS anyone addressed this issue and tried to help these birds? I wish I would have had something to cut the fishing line from their feet, for those birds were really in a lot of pain. It is up to us humans to make this right and aid to the birds in need

I would like to know who can assist these birds in need and take care of them?

Would appreciate any assistance to this matter, do it is something that needs to be addressed.....

I was on the island a month ago and I didn't notice any fishing line on the birds. I actually noticed how healthy the birds seemed. They were not afraid to stroll down the store front or lay on the beach as the people were doing. If I was a bird, I surely would want to be a city of Avalon bird.

Hopefully the pigeons can be freed. Maybe we should inform the Catalina Island Conservancy.
